5th Annual Pig Jig

All day BBQ.

All day music.

All day donations.

What could be a better combination?

The Tampa Pig Jig highlights a many times forgotten disease: FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis). The event benefits NephCure Kidney International, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome. FSGS is a rare disease that attacks the kidney’s filtering system. You can learn more about it and the Tampa Pig Jig’s beginnings on their website.

The 5th Annual Tampa Pig Jig happened on October 24th.

The event debuted in a few friends’ backyards and has become a community event, taking over Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa. With musical acts lined up throughout the day and BBQ to taste test, the event is a fun, family affair.

Levy Recognition has been involved with the event from its first year—when only a few hundred people attended. We’re ecstatic to see the Tampa community embrace this event and let it grow to a couple thousand attendees! This year alone, $600,000 was raised for NephCure Kidney International.

Ryan Reynolds, co-founder of the event, sums up the great impact of Tampa Pig Jig: “Over the past 5 years, The Pig Jig has grown from a small backyard BBQ to one of the largest grassroots fund raisers for Nephcure Kidney International in the Country, and this would not be possible without the support of our community, friends, families and sponsors. We have been humbled by the success of the event and are excited to continue to grow The Pig Jig even further, raising critical funds for research and creating awareness for FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome.”

Levy Recognition donates the plaques and trophies for the BBQ competition winners. Getting up at 4 a.m. the morning of the event, these competitors take it seriously! We’re happy they’re thrilled to raise our awards in victory!

Above is our recap of our day at Tampa Pig Jig. Join in on the fun next year!
