Every individual at the workplace shares a certain relationship with his fellow workers. Human beings are not machines who can start working just at the push of a button. They need people to talk to, discuss ideas with each other and share their happiness and sorrows. An individual cannot work on his own, he needs people around. An isolated environment demotivates an individual and spreads negativity around. It is essential that people are comfortable with each other and work together as a single unit towards a common goal.
An employer who recognizes the impact of workplace relationships to employee satisfaction, and encourages flexibility and interaction, can transform a brittle workplace into a productive, satisfying environment.
At the beginning of the inaugural season of the Levy League, Levy Recognition set goals to improve employee engagement and enhance workplace relationships. Our goal was to utilize Fantasy Football as a way to boost employee morale and strengthen relationships across departments.
As with any activity that promotes competition, there will be employees who don’t feel they got as much from participating as others. Such was the case with the Levy League. Half way into the season there was an obvious separation of teams that were performing well and teams that were struggling. Employees managing struggling teams became less engaged with conversation about the league. Talks of upcoming matchups and player news was prominent among team managers performing well. The real test was to determine if employees saw value in participating if it helped to improve their comfort level in communicating with others.
Many league members were new employees to Levy Recognition at the start of the season. Improvement in communication can be seen in both social and working situations where employees are encouraged to interact. Healthy relationships between fellow workers grew. This helped to increase productivity throughout the workplace. Colleagues with good rapport were eager to assist each other and complete job tasks together.
Having the Levy League enhanced employee relationships. Now that the season has concluded, the goal is to maintain stimulating relationships among employees in order to achieve and strive for a more outstanding level of working performance.
A dynamic work culture is therefore crucial to the growing success and sustainability of any business. By introducing engagement activities that improve workplace employee relationships, Levy Recognition is able to strengthen the confidence employees have in themselves to pursue new business opportunities.
The Championship Game
The run to the championship game had a few interesting turns. Early in the season, teams Dude, You’re Getting O-Dell! and WickedWheelie 1 were big threats in the Eastern Division. Leading the West was G$$$$$$Makers and Big Bad Birdy’s Bruzers. The leader board saw some movement toward the end of the season. Team Flaccoroni and Cheese came back from a 1-3 record with a six game winning streak to lock up the East. After starting the season with a loss, G$$$$$$Makers secured the West with ten regular season wins.
Unfortunately, several teams had their playoff dreams dashed early. Luck Dynasty, Team Stevenson, Team Esdaile, and Sassy Skins each had win percentages under .400 for the season. Team Adams was on the bubble, but lost to WickedWheelie 1 in Round One of the Playoffs.
In the end, it was G$$$$$$Makers who took home the big win, beating Flaccoroni and Cheese 244- 188 in the last round of the Championship Game.
